Hacking Group Targets Elon Musk for Misusing his Power over Crypto Market
Billionaire and Tesla Boss, Elon Musk, has been making headlines in recent months following his cryptic tweets about cryptocurrencies. Musk’s biggest venture in the crypto market was when he announced that his electric car manufacturing company, Tesla, would start accepting bitcoin payments.
However, a few weeks down the line, Musk stated that Tesla would no longer accept bitcoin because of the devastating impact of bitcoin mining on the environment. The tweet negatively affected bitcoin, and the currency lost its year-long bullishness and started trading at below $40,000 from an ATH of $63,500.
The CEO’s recent attack was tweeting the bitcoin logo with a broken heart emoji, causing another bitcoin dip on Friday. Musk’s repeated attacks on Crypto have now attracted the attention of a notorious hacker group.
Hacker Group going after Elon Musk
The hacking group, which goes by the name ‘anonymous,’ posted a video, which warned Musk about his regular trolling of cryptocurrencies.
“For the past several years, you have enjoyed one of the most favourable reputations of anyone in the billionaire class because you have tapped into the desire that many of us have to live in a world with electric cars and space exploration,” said a member of the hacker group who had a mask and a digitally altered voice.
“Millions of retail investors were really counting on their crypto gains to improve their lives,” the figure in the video said. “Of course, they took the risk upon themselves when they invested, and everyone knows to be prepared for volatility in crypto, but your tweets this week show a clear disregard for the average working person,” the video added.
The video also states that the hacker group was targeting Elon because he wielded a power in the cryptocurrency market, but he was now misusing that power. The group stated that Musk’s attacks on the crypto market had gone far enough, especially in bitcoin, which had suffered greatly following Musk’s attacks.
The hacker group states that even though Musk’s suspension of bitcoin by Tesla because of environmental concerns was a viable argument, the billionaire did not practice what he preached.
It is not the first time Musk has been criticized for his double standards regarding environmental concerns. Tesla’s lithium-powered cars have a devastating impact on the environment, which some members of the crypto community state are more than bitcoin’s impact on the environment. Not to mention, Space X, where Musk is also CEO, is also a great environmental pollutant looking at the great damage the rockets cause every time they are fired into space.
The group also took personal jabs at Elon, stating that he suffered from a ‘superiority complex,’ referring to when he called himself the ‘Emperor of Mars.’ The warning also adds that Musk was no longer a friend to the common person, but Anonymous was.
Musk did not directly respond to the video, but around 20 minutes after the video was released, he tweeted, “Don’t kill what you hate, Save what you love.”

While it remains to be seen whether the group will carry out their threat as promised in the video, Musk should enhance its cybersecurity and boost his firewalls because this hacker group has been behind serious attacks in the past.
The group has disrupted reputable financial firms such as PayPal, where it disabled its servers in 2010. The hack cost PayPal around 3.5 million euros. They have also been involved in protest movements such as ‘Occupy Wall Street’ and have been behind high-profile leaks such as in the saga surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.
Anonymous is a coalition of hackers who refer to themselves as freedom fighters, and they use the ‘V’ symbol for Vendetta. The group uses a Guy Fawkes mask as their logo.
